We are partnering with a leading public sector organisation to hire Platform Operations Engineers to support and maintain mission-critical enterprise infrastructure for Up to 2-Year Contract
This role is ideal for experienced infrastructure professionals with strong hands-on expertise in platform operations, virtualisation, Windows/Linux administration, enterprise storage, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and availability of enterprise platforms while supporting infrastructure modernisation and cloud migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain and support enterprise infrastructure platforms across development, staging, and production environments, ensuring high availability, operational stability, and optimal system performance.
Administer and manage virtualisation platforms including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V and Nutanix, performing capacity planning, lifecycle management, performance tuning and platform optimisation.
Support enterprise compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) infrastructure to ensure business continuity and service resilience.
Perform infrastructure patching, operating system upgrades, platform maintenance and technology refresh activities while minimising service disruption.
Provide L2/L3 technical support by investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis (RCA), resolving complex infrastructure issues and implementing preventive measures.
Support infrastructure modernisation, platform migration, cloud adoption and hybrid cloud initiatives aligned with organisational technology roadmaps.
Implement security best practices including system hardening, access management, vulnerability remediation, compliance monitoring and infrastructure governance.
Collaborate closely with application, network, security and vendor teams to ensure stable, secure and reliable platform operations.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Implement infrastructure automation and operational improvements using scripting and automation tools to improve efficiency, consistency and reliability.
Support monitoring, observability and proactive infrastructure health checks to ensure maximum platform availability.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in Platform Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Administration or Infrastructure Support.
Proven experience supporting enterprise production infrastructure within large-scale environments.
Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Windows Server administration and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Experience managing enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS), backup platforms, disaster recovery solutions and high availability environments.
Strong experience providing L2/L3 infrastructure support, production support, incident management, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Experience performing infrastructure patching, operating system upgrades, platform maintenance, performance tuning and technology refresh activities.
Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, firewalls, load balancing and network segmentation.
Experience working with monitoring and observability platforms for infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure concepts.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
Experience with automation tools including Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Bash, Puppet or Chef.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated infrastructure provisioning.
Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Dynatrace or Splunk.
Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault, Veeam or Cohesity.
Experience working within government, healthcare, banking, defence or other highly regulated enterprise environments will be advantageous.
Preferred Certifications
VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, ITIL v4 Foundation, AWS Associate Certification, Microsoft Azure Associate Certification or other relevant infrastructure and cloud certifications.
