About the role
The implementation of Modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a critical step in the company’s transformation journey, moving from outdated technology (ECC6) to a new, digitally enabled lean core platform (S/4) and application ecosystem.
As this is a business-led, group-wide transformation effort, it requires a strong team to bridge the business and technology landscapes. From contract to cash, every aspect of operations will benefit from this modernisation, offering an exciting opportunity to deliver a digital foundation that will support ongoing digital transformation.
The company is looking to modernise the Order to Cash and Logistics processes, making them simpler, reorganising work, and driving higher levels of automation through the deployment of a modern ERP core and supporting best-in-breed technologies across the process.
You will be responsible for the successful delivery of work supporting MOVE & SELL processes and business integration in the assigned order-to-cash process area. Key areas of process and business integration include contracts, pricing, invoicing, trade finance, intercompany, settlement, credit management, order processing, deliveries and shipment execution, inventory, shipping documentation, shipment costing, and import/export logistics.
You will manage project work while working closely with the data team, technology team, and appointed System Integrator (SI) to drive project outcomes.
You will drive the modernisation of process and transaction data, coordinating across functional teams in the Move and Sell workstream, including other process streams within MOVE & SELL, master data, and technology teams. You will manage business integration and change with business users and stakeholders to achieve strong adoption, while ensuring project outputs are delivered to a high standard and governance, compliance, and programme standards are maintained throughout delivery.
Transitioning to the SAP S/4HANA platform requires a thorough design and change management process to minimise business disruption and ensure the technology is adopted as intended. This role will work with the MOVE & SELL GPO to partner with functional business leaders in Commercial, acting as the voice into the central programme by providing strategic advice, direction, and expertise, while ensuring implementation plans minimise disruption to operational teams.
Reporting to the Modern ERP Move and Sell GPO Workstream Lead and working under the strategic guidance of the Move and Sell Process Steward, you will be responsible for the following:
Process Ownership and Governance
• Be accountable for the delivery of GP outcomes as part of the Modern ERP Move and Sell Workstream commitment
• Work with the Move and Sell GPO Workstream Lead to co-own the design authority and execute within agreed guidelines
• Lead the design, standardisation, and simplification of end-to-end business processes, including a Fit-to-Standard approach, as well as end-to-end processes and solutions that meet business requirements and controls
• Review and endorse process documentation to support the development of m-ERP functional design specifications
• Provide business context, insights, expertise, and knowledge of the as-is environment to support the development and documentation of detailed process maps and workflows for the m-ERP solutions
• Work with Solution Architects, Data Architects, Technology, and Change specialists to confirm delivery of GP process designs and required cross-process integration
• Work with the Signavio modeller for process design and optimisation, governance, and monitoring in support of the scope defined in m-ERP
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Engage with business lines, internal process users, business stakeholders, and appointed representatives across business units and functions
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business leaders, functional teams, IT, and the SI, to gather requirements and ensure the solution aligns with business needs
• Act as a liaison between business units and the technical SAP S/4 implementation team to translate business needs into functional specifications
Reporting and Transaction Data
• Work with the Workstream Master Data team and Programme Data team to ensure the m-ERP data simplification strategy is executed successfully during the upgrade
• Ensure the m-ERP real-time reporting capability is adopted and minimise development and workarounds to meet user needs
Change Management and Training
• Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of SAP S/4 processes
• Support the SI and Change Manager in developing and coordinating training programmes for end users, ensuring they understand new system functionalities
• Ensure continuous feedback loops from the business for ongoing system improvements
Project Oversight and Quality Assurance
• Work closely with the PMO, Workstream Lead, and other Process Leads to ensure SAP S/4 implementation requirements are delivered in a timely manner
• Review and endorse project documentation to support the development of m-ERP functional design specifications
• Ensure process design follows best practices and a clean-core approach, minimising customisations and ensuring system flexibility for future enhancements
• Monitor key project metrics and KPIs, ensuring process performance aligns with targets
Risk Management
• Identify and actively support the PMO and Workstream Lead in managing risks and issues related to process design, providing mitigation strategies where needed
• Actively support the PMO and Workstream Lead in developing mitigation strategies for risks associated with process redesign, data migration, or system integration
Continuous Improvement
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and optimising processes
• Collaborate with business units, other GPOs, and Group Functions to drive continuous improvement and optimisation
• Ensure future system upgrades or enhancements align with the company’s evolving needs
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
• A university degree in either a technical or commercial discipline
• Preferably 8 to 14+ years of relevant experience
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex business processes and propose effective solutions
Process & Data
• Partner with the Global Process Owner (GPO) and relevant sub-process owners (GSPO) to define the ambition, future/target-state processes, and solutions roadmap for the assigned process area
• Extensive experience and knowledge of Order to Cash (O2C) processes in a similar organisational setting
• Experience using SAP-originated data in the design of reports or dashboards on KPIs and metrics consumed by senior leaders, or involvement in reporting projects
• Prior experience working on projects that drive end-to-end standardisation, simplification, or implementation of new end-to-end processes is preferred, or at least Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification
• Experience in the design of process-related internal controls would be beneficial
Leadership
• Proven track record in leading internal and external teams and fostering a strong team culture within a networked operating model, preferably in a global and cross-time-zone context
• Experience working in a project environment, with demonstrated ability to drive success and achieve desired outcomes
SAP Expertise & Implementation Experience
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems and their capabilities, specifically ECC or S/4HANA, is preferred
• Experience as a key appointment holder in a large implementation project using methodologies such as Waterfall or Agile
• Experience with value pillars supported by SAP would be beneficial, including knowledge of value pillars, strategic pillars, and value trees
Relationship and Communication
• Ability to build strong relationships with users and senior stakeholders
• Experience in effective communication, including sharing vision and change management requirements with managed teams and business stakeholders
• Engagement experience with an SI is preferred
• Experience influencing decisions and leading key stakeholder communications, as well as internal and external engagements, would be beneficial
