Role: Senior Architecture Engineer (Operations Services) [P4/5 Grade]

Location: Novena

Type of Role: Contract (12 months renewable)

Remuneration: Base Salary - $12,000

Renumeration: 1 month bonus upon completion of 12 months' contract (subjected to attendance, performance etc..)

Role Overview:

The Architecture Engineer will join the Operations Architecture (OA) team onsite, supporting critical infrastructure for hybrid cloud, on-premises, and network environments. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and maintain secure, highly available architecture while ensuring compliance with Government IM8 and CIS standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Infrastructure Design & Implementation

• Architect network solutions (routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers) compliant with IM8/CIS hardening benchmarks.
• Manage VMware virtualization (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and Dell EMC storage (PowerMAX, Unity, Isilon) with a focus on security, redundancy, and performance optimization.
• Configure and harden Windows/Linux servers and Oracle Solaris OS (Active Directory, Group Policy, patching, Zones/LDOMs) to meet government security requirements.

2. Database & Middleware Support

• Administer MSSQL, Oracle DB (19c+, RAC, RMAN), and NoSQL systems, ensuring secure configurations, backups, and performance tuning, including Solaris-based Oracle deployments.

3. Government Compliance & Operations

• Enforce IM8/CIS compliance across infrastructure (e.g., STIGs, audit logging, encryption) including Solaris OS hardening.
• Document architectures, security controls, and processes for accreditation (e.g., SAF, CSA) with Solaris-specific documentation.

4. Troubleshooting & Leadership

• Lead cross-domain incident resolution (network/firewall/storage/OS/DB/Solaris) in alignment with ITIL v4 practices.
• Mentor junior engineers on Solaris administration and security best practices.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on system hardening (including Solaris) and vulnerability remediation.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Expertise

• Networking:

1. Cisco/Checkpoint/Palo Alto (firewalls, SD-WAN).
2. Protocols: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, DNS, DHCP (IM8-compliant configurations).

• Virtualization & Storage:

1. VMware (vSphere 7.x+, NSX, HA/DRS)
2. Dell EMC (PowerMAX/VMAX, Unity, Data Domain)

• Operating Systems:

1. Oracle Solaris (Zones, LDOMs, hardening, patching).
2. Windows Server 2016+ (GPO, SCCM/WSUS, SEP).
3. Linux (RHEL/CentOS) – STIG hardening.

• Database:

1. Oracle DB (19c+, RAC, RMAN, SQL tuning)
2. MS SQL (Always-On, TDE).
3. NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch)

• Soft Skills:

1. Experience in government projects (e.g., GCC, MINDEF, CSA).
2. Ability to obtain/hold CAT 2 security clearance.
3. Strong documentation (SOPs, architecture diagrams) and stakeholder communication.

Nice-to-Have

Certifications:

• Oracle Solaris Certified Administrator/Engineer
• VMware VCP-DCV, Cisco CCNP, Dell EMC Specialist.
• Security: CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CIS/IM8 Auditor.
• ITIL v4, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Architecture.
• Scripting: Solaris: KornShell (ksh), Bash, PowerShell/Python/Ansible for automation & compliance checks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8 to 10 plus years of hands-on experience implement, manage and maintain secure infrastructure solutions .
