We're looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to shape the design of a data-intensive digital platform used by a range of stakeholders across the maritime sector. This is a chance to design for complex, operationally-relevant workflows, working from research through to a polished, scalable interface.
You'll work closely with product management, engineering, and our existing design team member, translating complex requirements into clear, usable, and accessible interfaces — as a cross-functional partner rather than in a design silo.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct UX research and ideation for new MDT product concepts, from problem framing through to design solutions.
• Design interfaces for data-dense, complex digital tools, ensuring designs remain clear and usable for a range of user types and use cases.
• Apply service design principles to ensure coherent, consistent experiences across MDT's different workflows and user groups.
• Design intuitive, accessible user interfaces, and build/maintain a design system for consistency and scalability as MDT's feature set grows.
• Comply with Singapore's Digital Service Standards (DSS) for regulatory alignment.
• Plan and run usability testing with real users, and iterate designs based on findings.
• Manage stakeholder relationships directly — communicating design rationale and trade-offs to non-design audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers as part of a cross-functional squad, from concept through to delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
• 8+ years of UX/UI design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work (research through to shipped product).
• Degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, UX/UI Design, or a related field.
• Experience designing for data-dense or operationally-complex digital tools (e.g. dashboards, monitoring tools, enterprise or B2B platforms) is preferred.
• Strong qualitative and working knowledge of quantitative research methodologies.
• Skilled in persona development, user journey mapping, and service design.
• Ability to translate research insight into actionable design strategy and design systems.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent design tooling.
• Deep understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practice.
• Proficient in usability testing methodologies and iterative refinement.
• Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills — able to advocate for user-centred solutions with senior, non-design stakeholders.
Good to have
• Familiarity with 3D/spatial or geospatial platform design, or experience designing for geospatial data products.
• Exposure to Unity 3D or similar real-time/3D engines (no coding required — familiarity with how these environments constrain or enable UI/UX is the useful part).
