Job Summary

We seek an energetic software engineer to own feature development and deliver robust, maintainable code. You will collaborate across teams, apply modern engineering practices, and contribute to innovative AI-driven solutions in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the development and delivery of software features, ensuring code is robust, well-tested, and maintainable
• Adhere to high-quality engineering standards to build secure and reusable software systems
• Participate actively in technical discussions and squad-level decisions to apply best practices in software development
• Adopt modern engineering tools and practices to foster a strong, collaborative engineering culture
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to product owners, technical leads, and legal domain experts
• Assist senior engineers in updating technical plans and infrastructure roadmaps to align with organizational goals
• Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python for AI-related backend development
• Implement and support Generative AI features, including working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure and use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for deployment automation
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines exclusively using GitLab CI within the SHIP-HATS ecosystem
• Demonstrate strong ownership and navigate complex organizational environments with minimal guidance
• Collaborate effectively with senior leads and cross-functional teams to drive project progress and innovation
• Commit to engineering craftsmanship by producing clean, well-documented, and high-performance code
• Embrace ambiguity by independently developing solutions and driving progress without complete information

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience working in public sector, legal, or highly regulated environments is advantageous
