Software Engineer - Java - Part-Time

Job Description

·      We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer with strong Java and SQL skills to support enterprise applications through production support, enhancements, and implementation activities. 

·      The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a willingness to learn COBOL while collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

·      Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Java technologies. 

·      Provide production (BAU) support by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving application issues. 

·      Participate in implementation projects, change requests, and system enhancements throughout the SDLC. 

·      Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 

·      Write and optimize SQL queries for data analysis and troubleshooting. 

·      Collaborate with project leads, business users, and technical teams to ensure successful solution delivery. 

·      Support testing activities, deployments, and post-implementation validation. 

·      Maintain technical documentation and ensure adherence to development standards. 

·      Learn and support COBOL-based applications where required. 

Required Qualifications& Skills

·      Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. 

·      Minimum 1 year of experience in Java development. 

·      Minimum 1 year of experience with SQL and database development. 

·      At least 1 year of experience in: Production Support (BAU) SDLC implementation projects Change Request (CR) delivery Experience with technical support is an added advantage. 

·      Strong programming skills in Java. Good knowledge of SQL and database query writing. 

·      Experience with enterprise Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or JPA. 

·      Experience with React and TypeScript for frontend development is advantageous. 

·      Knowledge of Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel Macros is a plus. 

·      Willingness to learn COBOL programming.
