System Engineer - Part-Time

Job Description

·       We are seeking a skilled System Engineer to manage and support Windows and RHEL servers hosted on Hyper-V and AWS environments.

·       The role requires strong expertise in system administration, incident management, security compliance, and performance optimization in a 24x7 operational environment. 

Key Responsibilities

·       Provide 24x7 operational support to ensure high availability and fast service recovery Administer Windows Server and RHEL systems hosted in Hyper-V and AWS environments 

·      Manage Active Directory (AD) including user accounts, groups, permissions, and GPO policies 

·      Ensure all systems comply with security standards and organizational requirements 

·      Respond promptly to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement temporary/permanent fixes Perform change management and handle service requests for client platforms 

·      Monitor systems and ensure all SLAs are consistently met Review system logs and take corrective and preventive actions 

·      Maintain proper documentation of system configurations and applications 

·      Ensure backup and restoration processes are functioning effectively Keep antivirus definitions up to date across all systems 

·      Perform monthly and ad-hoc patching, ensuring systems remain secure and stable post-upgrade 

·      Develop and maintain SOPs and operational checklists (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) 

·      Generate reports for privileged account reviews and periodic access audits Monitor and optimize system performance (CPU, memory, disk usage) 

·      Manage automation tools and scripts for task scheduling, log extraction, and data transfer 

·      Fine-tune OS and Microsoft middleware configurations for performance improvement and issue resolution 

·      Coordinate hardware and software maintenance activities to ensure infrastructure reliability 

·      Raise and track incidents/change requests with vendors until closure 

·      Collaborate with application, network, and security teams, as well as third-party vendors Support installation, upgrades, and ongoing project requirements 

·      Handle ad-hoc tasks based on operational and project needs 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

·      Strong experience in Windows Server and RHEL administration 

·      Hands-on experience with Hyper-V and AWS environments 

·      Proficiency in Active Directory and Group Policy management 

·      Knowledge of incident, change, and problem management processes 

·      Familiarity with system monitoring tools and performance tuning Experience in patch management, backup solutions, and antivirus systems 

·      Scripting/automation knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) is a plus 

·      Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards 

Preferred Qualifications 

·      Certifications such as Microsoft Certified,

·      Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or AWS certifications 

·      Experience working in a 24x7 support environment Knowledge of ITIL processes
