Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume)\:
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time experience in fundraising, sales, events, or a related field. Experience working in higher education, non-profit, government or municipal environments, large healthcare systems, and/or related fields. Proven record of success in cultivating, soliciting, and raising funds from individual donors and/or institutions.
Preferred Qualifications\:
Demonstrated experience in fundraising campaigns. Proven success in closing leadership annual giving level gifts. Proficiency in contact management software, such as Raiser's Edge.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director of Development for Athletics is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of leadership and major gift prospects. They will work closely with the Director of Athletics, Assistant Vice President for Development, and Director of Development for Athletics to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward annual and multi-year commitments of $25,000 or more to support Stony Brook University, with a focus on Stony Brook Athletics. They will also coordinate and manage the John Ramsey Leadership Society and will help secure matching gifts for Athletics campaigns during annual fundraising days such as Giving Day. The Assistant Director must meet annual metrics, adapt to changing priorities, and manage donor relationships effectively.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
