About Tara

Tara is a new philanthropic re-granting initiative in Asia that supports a diverse group of partners to accelerate the transition to sustainable, clean energy. Tara is currently hosted at the European Climate Foundation, but with a mandate to localise and become an independent Asia-based regional foundation in the future. Tara’s vision is a just and thriving Asia powered by renewable energy. Tara works in South, Southeast and East Asia excluding India and China.

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in 2008 to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role to mitigate climate change.

Tara plays three main roles in the region: providing grants to a diverse group of partners in the region, developing strategy, and convening of partners within and across the region.
