Job Description

The Assistant Manager (Major Digital Licensing) is an account management role reporting to the Head of Licensing (Major Digital). This role involves negotiating with digital services on the grant and renewal of copyright licences for use of musical works under prescribed frameworks.

Main Responsibilities

1. Maintain and grow royalty income from digital services in line with legal requirements, operational plans and targets.
2. Manage licensing discussions within approved frameworks, independently handling smaller accounts and working with senior management on larger or more complex accounts.
3. Build and maintain constructive business relationships with digital services.
4. Identify and develop new licensing opportunities through engagement with relevant digital services.
5. Assess digital service profiles, usage and revenue data and other relevant facts to determine the appropriate licensing approach.
6. Manage external correspondence.
7. Review the commercial terms of proposals and contracts, prepare commercial summaries and internal recommendations, and work with the legal team on contract drafting.
8. Apply tariff and licensing frameworks clearly and consistently in commercial settings.
9. Monitor portfolio progress, revenue outlook, renewal status, licence compliance and matters requiring escalation, and ensure timely follow-up.
10. Manage invoicing and payments, including verification of usage and revenue data.
11. Review existing licensing tariffs and make recommendations to support reasonableness and fairness across the board.
12. Provide commercial support for legal cases.
13. Maintain complete and accurate licensing records.
14. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Key Requirements

1. Degree holder, preferably in Business, Economics, Communications or Public Policy.
2. Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably involving negotiations.
3. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Good drafting and negotiation skills.
6. Ability to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape.
7. Strong team player.
