Assistant Regional Legal Counsel

A well-established and leading pharmaceutical company is currently seeking a high-calibre Assistant Regional Legal Counsel. In this job, you will join their dynamic and fast-growing organisation based in their Selangor office.

About the Assistant Regional Legal Counsel Role

Reporting to the General Counsel (based in Hong Kong), you are required to render a range of all legal and commercial advice as well as proactive support and align with the group’s network’s needs, taking responsibility for success and world class execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee a wide range of legal matters for the companies in Malaysia and Brunei
Render advice on commercial transactions, reviewing, preparing and/or negotiating commercial contracts with clients and vendors/suppliers, both locally and internationally
Provide legal advice and opinions on miscellaneous matters which include but not limited to dispute resolution, local regulatory, employment amongst, some corporate secretarial and other ancillary matters, as and when required
Serve as primary contact for local business as well as rendering regular updates and reports on all compliance related matters
Work with internal stakeholders/business unit to ensure that interactions with local authorities and regulators are coordinated and implement processes to identify and manage regulatory requests and deadlines

To succeed in this role, will need to be able to work independently and effectively with a flexible mindset.

Key Requirements:

LL.B holder and a qualified advocate and solicitor with at least 7 - 10 years of experience with at least three years of experience working in a prestigious law firm
Strong leadership skills with success building and enhancing credibility for the function with the group
Experience in negotiating contracts is essential and on behalf of a service provider/experience in logistic/distribution/healthcare industry (in particular in pharmaceutical marketing and promotion and other regulatory matters) is preferred/will be viewed as an added advantage
Self-motivated, confident to hold firm with both external clients and internal clients, able to work with minimum supervision, good commercial sense and practicality, strong attention to details and is able to break down as well as explain legal issues to layman terms
Excellent written and spoken English communication and interpersonal skills as a foundation for developing and maintaining strong internal relationships at all levels
